United States President Donald Trump has called on French President Emmanuel Macron to take urgent action on immigration, warning that France could face deeper problems if its borders and migration policies are not addressed.
Trump made the remarks in a post on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, where he blamed the influx of migrants from different cultural backgrounds for what he described as growing unrest in the European country.
“France is burning! The immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country. Close your Borders and take control, before it is too late! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he wrote.
The US president urged the French government to tighten its borders and take decisive steps to regain control of the situation, expressing concern over what he portrayed as the consequences of immigration on France’s stability.
Trump’s latest comments are consistent with his long-standing opposition to large-scale immigration, an issue that has remained central to his political agenda and approach to both domestic and international affairs. His remarks are also likely to reignite debate over immigration, national security and the challenges facing European governments as they seek to balance border control with humanitarian responsibilities.
