The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to stop parading himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order on Thursday, October 29, after ruling that Uzodinma did not emerge as the winner of the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the court, the evidence presented during the proceedings showed that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast during the primary and should therefore be recognised as the winner.
Consequently, the judge directed the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to INEC as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
The ruling marks a significant development in the contest for the APC ticket in Imo West, with the court’s decision placing Okorocha in line to represent the party in the forthcoming senatorial election.
