2027: Shehu Sani to ADC seek redress in Court over Atiku’s disqualification and stop threatening electorates.

Shehu Sani has urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to pursue its legal battle at the Appeal Court rather than issue threats following the Federal High Court judgment nullifying its leadership structure and Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential ticket.

In a post on his verified X handle on Thursday, the former Kaduna Central senator said the party should accept the legal process and challenge the ruling through an appeal.

Sani argued that the ADC’s current predicament stemmed from its decision to adopt an existing political party with unresolved leadership disputes instead of registering a new party with a clear constitution and leadership structure.

He said the coalition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai and Rauf Aregbesola, were aware of the party’s internal challenges before choosing it as their political platform.

According to him, the ADC should have anticipated the consequences of taking over a party already embroiled in factional disputes and court cases.

His comments followed the ADC’s warning to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against what it described as playing with fire after the Federal High Court in Abuja nullified the David Mark-led leadership and voided Atiku’s presidential ticket.

The party had described the judgment, delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, barely 24 hours after its presidential campaign rally in Sokoto, as an indication of the APC’s desperation.

However, Sani maintained that issuing threats would not overturn the court’s decision, insisting that only the appellate process could determine the party’s next line of action.

He further cautioned the opposition party against allowing its internal leadership crisis to become a national confrontation, stressing that Nigeria’s interest should take precedence over the political ambitions of individuals and parties.
