Police nap two notorious motorcycle snatchers in Bauchi state

 

Two notorious motorcycle snatchers within and outside of Bauchi State who specialised in beating and snatching motorcycles from the riders have been arrested by police in the state following their latest crime committed in Bauchi metropolis.

The two suspects, Mustapha Adam (25) and 31-year-old Jafar Lawan, were arrested Thursday last week at about 9:00pm disguised as passengers and boarded a motorcycle rode by one Kabiru Muhammadu (30) at the Central Market to Old Airport area of the state capital and eventually hit the motorcyclist with a trailer-wheel spanner on his head, leading to his sustaining serious injury and made away with his motorcycle.

Their subsequent arrest, according to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, followed credible intelligence the command detectives received.

“On July 27, 2023, at about 2030hrs one Mustapha Adam ‘M’ aged 25yrs old of Anguwan Mahaukata and Jafar Lawan ‘M’ aged 31 years old of Gudun Hausawa area, Bauchi disguised as passengers and boarded an okada man, one Kabiru Muhammadu ‘m’ age 30yrs old of Magaji Quarters area Bauchi at the central market to old airport area.

“On reaching the Wikki oil axis, they brought out a trailer-wheel spanner and hit him on his head, which he sustained a serious injury on his head and fell unconscious.

“On receipt of the report, the Command immediately drafted a team of detectives and swiftly rushed to the scene, evacuating the victim to Specialist Hospital Bauchi for medical attention and on the other hand, the detectives trailed the culprits, and they were successfully apprehended before arriving at their haven within Bauchi metropolis,” Wakil, a Superintendent of Police (SP), stated in a release.

He informed us that, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are notorious and professional motorcycle snatchers within and outside of the state.”

The PPRO added that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the allegation against them and sounded remorseful.

“Investigation is still on, after which the suspects would be profiled and charged to court for prosecution on the established offences accordingly,” he stated.
