The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects, including a former security guard, in connection with the killing of retired Ogun State Television broadcaster, Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
The two victims were found dead at Oyesiku’s residence in the Owode-Egba area of Ogun State on June 21. Following the discovery, it was also reported that the broadcaster’s Lexus RX 330 SUV had been taken from the property.
Addressing journalists on June 25, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, revealed that officers immediately launched an investigation after receiving reports of the incident. Their efforts led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
Ojajuni explained that investigators also examined a handwritten note recovered from the crime scene. The document was subjected to forensic analysis, which provided crucial clues that helped advance the investigation.
Further intelligence gathering resulted in the arrest of the main suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, a former security guard who once worked for the deceased broadcaster. He was apprehended on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he had reportedly been working as a labourer.
Police said Philip’s confession led to the arrest of two alleged accomplices, identified as 27-year-old security guard Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola and 36-year-old bricklayer Sobu Obafunsho.
According to the police commissioner, the suspect admitted that he orchestrated the attack because of grievances he held from the period he worked for the late broadcaster.

“The suspect stated that the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku was intended to ‘teach her a lesson,” Ojajuni added.
Investigators believe the suspects first subdued the broadcaster’s security guard before gaining access to her apartment, where she was killed. The security guard was later also murdered during the attack.
Police recovered several items believed to be linked to the crime, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank, and a black pen.
Ojajuni said the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are completed.
