Ibadan, Oyo State – The Oyo State Government has directed the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and all public school teachers across the state to resume academic activities, signaling the reopening of public primary and secondary schools after weeks of disruption.
The directive comes amid growing concerns from parents, education stakeholders, and community leaders over the prolonged closure of public schools, which has adversely affected the academic progress of thousands of pupils and students across the state.
The state government assured teachers, parents, and students that adequate measures have been put in place to strengthen security around schools and ensure the safety of learners and education workers. Authorities reiterated their commitment to securing the release of abducted teachers and students while maintaining uninterrupted academic activities.
Speaking on the development, government officials emphasized that education remains a priority of the administration and urged all stakeholders to support efforts aimed at restoring normalcy in the state’s education sector.
The resumption directive is expected to bring relief to parents and students who have expressed concerns over the impact of the strike on academic performance and preparations for examinations.
Meanwhile, the government assured residents that security agencies are intensifying efforts to address the security challenges that led to the industrial action and to guarantee a safe learning environment in all public schools across Oyo State.
Teachers have been urged to return to their classrooms immediately and continue with the academic calendar as scheduled.
