Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 21-year-old plumber, Adebayo Pelumi, over the alleged theft of two iron catering pots and a power bank in Iyesi, Ota, Ogun State.

The suspect was reportedly apprehended on Sunday around Abiola Gas Line, Iyesi, following efforts by operatives of the Corps’ Canaan City Division to track him down over an alleged theft incident at Arobi Eye.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, and made available to journalists on Monday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

According to the statement, security operatives received information about the suspect’s whereabouts in the early hours of Sunday while the Divisional Officer, SC Tajudeen Abdulkereem, and his team were conducting routine patrols.

The statement explained that the officers initially spotted the suspect on a motorcycle but lost sight of him during the operation.

It added: “The officers initially sighted the suspect on a motorcycle but lost sight of him.

“A search of the surrounding area was subsequently conducted, during which the two iron pots were recovered.

“The suspect was later found hiding in the area and attempted to evade arrest.

The statement further alleged that the suspect stole a power bank and its charger during the incident.

Other items reportedly recovered from him included two Android phones, a phone charger, an OPay ATM card, a voter’s card, several bunches of keys, two MTN SIM cards and various receipts.

Following his arrest, Pelumi and the recovered items were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and necessary action.

Reacting to the development, the So-Safe Corps State Commander reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Ogun State.
