Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has released another video showing the moment he and members of his team were attacked during a visit to Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Sowore shared the footage on his verified X account on Monday, expressing displeasure over attempts by some individuals to describe the incident as a mere disagreement or altercation.

The activist and politician maintained that what happened was more than a simple confrontation, insisting that the attack was a deliberate attempt to take his life.

In his reaction accompanying the video, Sowore wrote: “This is yet another footage of the brutal attack on me and members of our team in Ado-Ekiti. How anyone could watch this violence and dismiss it as a mere ‘altercation’ is beyond comprehension. We maintain that this was a coordinated assassination attempt.”

The incident occurred last week during Sowore’s visit to Ekiti State and has since generated widespread reactions, with several Nigerians taking to social media to condemn the violence.

However, while Sowore has continued to describe the incident as a coordinated assassination attempt, the police have maintained a different position, characterising it as a clash between the activist and some individuals.

The release of the additional footage is expected to renew public discussions about the incident and calls for a thorough investigation into what transpired during the confrontation.
