The Oyo State chairman of the Nigerian union of teachers Comrade Raji Oladimeji Ismail has said that the implementation of statutory salary for professional teachers in the country is a collective proposal from the Nigerian union of teachers NUT that there should be a standard and unified salary scale allocated to teachers in the country

Comrade Raji said that is not withstanding, we have also considered the peculiarity of each state, take for instance in Oyo State apart from the normal salary the teachers salary structure which is 27.5 percent in addition to our salary but if you go to other states is not being paid whereas this was unanimously agreed about 12 years ago when Senator Bokula Saraki was the chairman Governor’s forum but even in Kwara State it is not been implemented.

He said if there are just one percent of salary to be added to teachers across the country and it not implemented, how much more the demands for salary uniform structure even if we comply in Oyo State hkw about other state.

Comr. Oladimeji said the role of the NUT is to propose to the Federal government and is the duty of the National to start negotiations from the top
