Scene Of Planned #EndSARS Protest Blocked By Soldiers In Abuja

By Chinenye Festus:-
Soldiers in the Federal Capital Territory have taken over the venue for the planned protest in the Nation’s capital, Abuja. The military officers were stationed at the popular Aya roundabout early Monday morning, with a roadblock and barricade.
Today marks the 13th day that youths in Nigeria have been protesting against police brutality and total reform of the Nigerian police force using the Hashtag #EndSars.
Amidst the heavy rain on Sunday, protesters in the Nation’s capital didn’t let that deter them, as they were camped overnight outside CBN headquarters protesting police brutality and extra-judicial killings.
Recall, that the Nigerian Army on Sunday its Operation Crocodile is not targeted at #EndSars protesters.
A statement issued by the Army Spokesperson Musa Sagir on Saturday noted that the exercise, scheduled to commence from October 20 to December 31, 2020, has no relationship with any lawful protest under any guise whatsoever.
‘For the records, Exercise Crocodile Smile is a yearly exercise in the Nigerian Army calendar/forecast of events which traditionally holds from October to December of each year,” the statement read in part.
