Blue Ivy Carter — the 8-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z — has won a “Video of The Year” award for the hit song” Brown Skin Girl.

Tina Lawson, Blue Ivy’s grandma, took to Instagram to congratulate her talented granddaughter.

“Congratulations to my beautiful talented granddaughter Blue Ivy Carter. She won a Soul Train Award for video of the year! She is only 8 years old,” Tina Lawson wrote.

In 2019, Blue won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award at the 2019 Soul Train Music Awards for co-writing her mother’s hit song, “Brown Skin Girl”.

The Lion King: The Gift, “Brown Skin Girl”- a single off Beyonce’s soundtrack album celebrates dark and brown-skinned women everywhere; and Carter not only co-wrote the song, she also sang on it with her mother Beyonce, Guyanese singer SAINt JHN and Nigerian singer Wizkid.

“Brown Skin Girl” is Carter’s first songwriting credit and earlier this month, the 8-year-old added another ‘firsts’ to her list of accomplishments-audiobook narrator! Blue narrates Hair Love, a bestselling children’s book, written by former NFL player Matthew A. Cherry and illustrated by Vashti Harrison. The story was made into an Oscar-winning short film and will also be adapted into a TV series for HBO Max.

Blue Ivy’s audiobook performance qualifies her for a Grammy Award nomination for Best Spoken Word on a Non-musical Album. If Blue Ivy were to win, she would be the youngest Grammy winner of all-time.
