Basket indoor court, Obafemi Awolowo stadium, liberty Road, Oke Ado Ibadan, Oyo State capital came alive following the 52nd birthday celebration of Ambassador Rahmat Romoke Ayinde JP.
It may interest you to know that Rahmat Romoke Ayinde’s birthday has turned a yearly festival in ibadan with an unusual empowerment schemes rolled out to better the lives of many young people.
This year birthday celebration came with different packages, in fact a combination of events unveiling different projects that with absolute intention to eradicate poverty to zero.
The 2023 projects celebrated side by side with the 52nd birthday celebration includes, Unveiling of Netball game first ever in Oyo State, book launch, commissioning of laboratory, fund raising for proposed technical college and unveiling of youth radio vision Station.
In her speech the celebrants Amb. Rahmat Romoke Ayinde (JP) thank the Almighty Allah for sustainability and sound health. She said ” the date attached to this day Wednesday, in the month of October of the year 2023, is a memorable and remarkable date being October 18th. Actually on record, I was born on October 18 and on the date I celebrate my birthday, I am always glad having that date attached to my arrival on this planet called, earth”
Rahmat Ayinde, who is the Chairperson Netball games in Oyo State noted that her birthday celebration and unveiling of netball in Oyo State came as a total package having some other events to compliment for growth in all ramifications and quick development.
While calling for total supports and donations for the realisation of all the projects unveiling, she commended the unflinching supports from Alhaji Salmon Akanbi Oladiti and SAO petroleum for partnership.
” undoubtedly, sport is a unifying factor and the development of netball, especially in Oyo State is a necessity. To develop netball in Oyo State, and take it to a greater height to dominate the international scene is a task that must be done. This is the reason our motto is, AIM HIGH, REACH THE SKY”
” Second as a conjoin with the birthday celebration is the unveiling of Netball in Oyo State, this resuscitation sport, as the Pioneer Chairperson in Oyo State, is targeted at human development and economic buoyancy in Oyo State and our country, Nigeria”
” Also on the line-up include as third is the commissioning of laboratory which is aimed at improving the scientific knowledge of beneficiaries at the imperial initiative for human development; fouth, fundraising for the proposed TECHNICAL COLLEGE, a school designed for bringing novel ideas into practical use for further human development; fifth, unveiling of youth radio-vision Station; a station established for youths to express their creative abilities in a positive way; any the six, book launch which involves two books authored by me, the celebrants. The books are FUNDAMENTAL OF HEALTHY LIVING AND BAYONET POVERTY”
She acknowledged the dignitaries present for honouring her invitation despite their busy schedules and pray for Allah to bless and reward them bountifully.
In an interview with newsmen, when asked her reason for commissioning science laboratory, she said ” I donated the laboratory to the school to help the students, especially those whose parents cannot afford private education, they can always come and for their practicals after learning the theory from the classroom”
In a brief introduction of netball by the media officer Mr. Kenny Ogunmiloro noted that Oyo State is the number three state in the country to unveil netball.
The object of netball is to score more points than your opponent.
A netball game lasts for a regulation 60 minutes. This is split into four quarters, with each quarter lasting 15 minutes. Between the first and second quarter, and the third and fourth quarter, there is an interval of three minutes. Between the second and third quarter -half-time – there is an interval of five minutes.
A referee or umpire is allowed to call time and when they do, the time keeper will stop the timer, which begins again when play starts again. There is a maximum of two minutes allowed for an injury.
Mr. Kenny while congratulating the pioneer team players of the netball game in Oyo State, also charge them to consider themselves lucky and by so doing should remain focused and courageous in the game.
Performing the inauguration to officially unveiled the netball game in Oyo State, Alhaji Raji Ebonyi for the Oyo state ministry of sport, congratulated the Chairperson of the Committee Amb. Rahmat Romoke and her team for putting their names in the book of history.
He called on the team to ensure netball game is spread across all the local government areas in Oyo State.
Goodwill messages from different sectors including the chairman House Committee on information, Oyo State House of Assembly, commissioner for information, Sen. Sarafadeen Alli, CSP Marvis Jayeola representive of the Oyo state Commissioner of Police and many others.
Interestingly, ceremony features the official commissioning of science laboratory, radio station, netball unveiling, demonstration game, induction of key netball stakeholders in the state, reading of citation of the celebrant, cultural dance by school children, drama groups, netball documentary, launching of the two books and cutting of the birthday cake to celebrate Amb. Rahmat Romoke Ayinde JP birthday in a grand style.
