Oyo state registered timber contractors, sawmillers association inaugurate Alhaji Chief Kabir Olayemi led administration.

The Oyo State registered timber contractors and sawmillers association recently inaugurated the Alhaji Chief Kabir Olayemi-led executive to steer the course of the association for the next couple of years.

The forum is a professional association, which specialises in Strategic Management of timber businesses and the association

Speaking at the inauguration as the representative of his Excellency Gov. Seyi Makinde the director of Oyo State forestry, Mr Stephen Moradeyo urged the newly inaugurated exco’s to sustain and build on the success of the outgoing exco.

“It’s a beautiful thing to see how far the Oyo State chapter of timber contractors has come, they have shown great example of what a group of professionals should be about.

“I urge the new excos to build on the achievements of the immediate past members of the executive, do not dismiss it, build on it and together we’d attain the goals of the organisation,” he said.

He noted that the oyo state government under the administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde has directed compulsory 10 to 20 hectares of tree replacement by every state’s forestry stakeholders including the wood collectors, wood loggers and plank sellers as to strengthen a healthy atmosphere and increase promotions of timber productions in Nigeria.

He urged the organisation to embrace afforestation project as this will help us a lot to sustain our forest resources and likewise it will be able to checkmate the effect of climate change.

He commended the dedication of the state chapter and urged the newly inaugurated executive to focus on leveraging on the past administration success.

In his reaction, Chairman, Oyo State Registered Timber Contractor and Sawmillers Association, Alhaji Chief Kabir Olayemi credited the administration Gov. Seyi Makinde over a laudable development in the agriculture sector of the state, assured association’s readiness towards complying with afforestation renewed system in the state.

“We are grateful to the state government for receiving the association with open hands, often beautiful co-operation enjoyed with the government through the state Forestry.”

“Concerning the directive of the state government, we are assuring the government of our association’s readiness to comply with tree replacement.”

“Together we will attain the height and success we seek as a group of people with a vision that will propel us as great strategists,” he said.

“We are ready to train members and sensitize towards tree replanting. Iseyin has had tree planting zone, Ibadan tree zone with the government’s forest reserve. We will do this adequately, and by two or 6years’ time, we shall begin to have results”, Olayemi concluded

Meanwhile, the state government presented a certificate of recognition to the association through the deputy director, Mr Ariori Kayode Folarin to the newly inaugurated state chairman and executive members.

 

Present at the event included former deputy chief of staff and 2023 PDP Oluyole House of Representatives candidate, Hon.Mojeed Mogbonjubola, Oyo Central Senator-Elect, Dr. Yunus Abidun Akintunde, zonal chairmen Executive members, Oyo State Registered Timber Contractors and Sawmillers Association and a popular broadcaster, Komolafe Olaiya.
