All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has warned Governor Seyi Makinde and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, that violence will not prevent their party from losing the 2027 general elections.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, made the declaration in a statement issued on Monday amid reports of violent incidents in parts of the state in recent days.
The senator alleged that Makinde, who is also identified in the statement as the APM presidential candidate, and Adekanmbi were responsible for instigating the violence. However, the allegations were not independently established in the report.
He maintained that the people of Oyo State had rejected the political direction of the governor and the APM candidate, insisting that incidents of violence would not change voters’ decisions at the polls.
Alli also recalled that Makinde inherited what he described as a peaceful state from his predecessor, the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi.
The APC candidate argued that the prevailing security concerns should not be used to intimidate voters or influence the outcome of the forthcoming elections.
“No amount of violence will change the decision of the good people of Oyo State to reject the rootless APM in the 2027 elections,” he said.
The statement was signed on Alli’s behalf by Bisi Oladele, director of his campaign organisation.
The exchange highlights the growing political tension in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with security and allegations of violence emerging as contentious issues among political actors.
As political activities intensify, the allegations raised by the APC candidate remain claims attributed to him, while the reported incidents of violence underscore the importance of a peaceful electoral process that allows residents to make their choices without intimidation.
