7 soldiers killed, 5 injured, others missing as bandits ambush Nigerian troops in Kebbi

Bandits have ambushed troops of the Forward Operational Base and that of the Special Operational Command operating in Kebbi State.

The gunmen attacked the troops around Marke village on Tuesday, killing 7 soldiers.
According to sources familiar with the incident, the seven slain soldiers consist of four naval special force personnel and three soldiers of the army.
Five soldiers were also severely injured from gunshots while 2 others were still missing as of the time this report was filed.
Sources said the bandits came in large number, forcing the troops to withdraw after engaging them for a while.
The bandits made away with items including seven AK 47 rifles, one anti aircraft gun and one Russian machine gun.
They also set ablaze four Toyota hilux vans and one automatic grenade launcher belonging to the troops before fleeing into the bush.
Search and rescue operations are currently ongoing in the area for the missing soldiers
