Akwa Ibom education board assured retirees payment of arrears, pension owed primary school teachers

Akwa Ibom State Government has reiterated commitment towards payment arrears of pension indebted to primary school teachers in the State.

The Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Anietie Etuk, gave the assurance when the Forum of Retired Primary School Teachers, Akwa Ibom State, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Board Headquarters.

The SUBEB Boss told the Forum that the issue of pension arrears was of serious concern to him, stressing that the issue and other concerns of the Forum will be channelled to the Governor for appropriate action.

Speaking on behalf of the Forum, the Chairman, Forum of Retired Primary School Teachers, Akwa Ibom State, Rev.(Dr) Felix Cookey, applauded the State Governor for approving and implementing the consequential adjustment scheme for pensioners, and appealed to the Government to clear all pension arrears owed retired primary school teachers in the State.

He urged the Executive Chairman to liaise with the Governor to ensure that pension arrears are paid to reduce the suffering of the retired teachers.
