Following the sudden dismissal of the former state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Udo Ekpenyong, the party under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel has unanimously voted in another new state Chairman of the party, Mr. Aniekan Akpan.
Mr Akpan emerged the new chairman during the PDP party Congress held at Godswill Akpabio international Stadium on Wednesday 30th June 2021.
The new state Chairman of the ruling party in the state happens to come from Ukanafun local Government Area where his late predecessor was from.
In his message of Felicitation the Chaiman house Committee on Communications in the house of representative, Reps Unyime Idem said;
“On behalf of the people of Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, I wish to express my sincere felicitations to an illustrious son of Ukanafun and former Director General, UnyimeAbasi 2019 Campaign Organization, Rt. Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan on his election and inauguration as the state Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party – PDP.
“Let me also use this opportunity to thank the Leader of our party and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel, the State PDP Caucus and the party delegates for finding it fit to retain the party Chairmanship position in Ukanafun local government area.
“I am confident that following your antecedent as a successful Local government council Secretary, Chairman of Ukanafun local government area, Member House of Assembly, Commissioner for Education, Commissioner 1, Local Government Service Commission among other prominent appointments, you will discharge the responsibilities of the new strategic office dutifully. Your political pedigree and years of active participation in public service has made you the best choice for our state party leadership at this point in time.
“As a worthy son of Ukanafun, I wish to assure you that you have the full support and backing of the people of the federal constituency. We will provide you the needed home support to serve our state and PDP and make it the most preferred party in Akwa Ibom.”
