BREAKING: Malami orders arrest, prosecution of Nigerians still using Twitter

Newsie Events Media:

The Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has directed that all those that are flouting the Federal Government’s ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria should be immediately arrested and prosecuted.

He made this known in a statement issued by his spokesman, Umar Gwandu.

This is coming after the ban placed on Twitter took effect on Saturday, Nigerians decided to bypass the blocked Twittèr URL by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) which gives them access to the Twitter platform.

A VPN is a key path for digital anonymity.
Reacting to the new development, Malami urged the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, DPPF, at the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, to commence in earnest, the process of prosecution of violators of the Federal Government de-activation of operations of Twitter in Nigeria.
