Businessman raises alarm over sabotage on Southeast Exporters

An Imo- born businessman; and the Chief Executive Officer of Davmic Wood Viet Limited; Mr. Dikeocha Paschal, has raised alarm over sabotage being meted on Exporters from the South East states.
Dikeocha, who deals on Wood processing, Supply Wood export, Live stocks, Tree Planting and Transportation, narrated how Exporters from Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra States are barred from exporting their products from the Portharcourt seaports, which according to him, is supposed to be easier for them.

The Exporter who spoke to Journalists during the Nigerian Export Promotion Council Exporters and Performance appraisal session in Owerri, recently, alleged that the Nigerian Customs Service has made their exportation a frustrating one.
He wondered why his products (processed Woods) can not be exported from the Onne and other neighbouring seaports to outside the whereas, according to him, his wood are processed.
“It is a total sabotage. Those goods that can’t be exported from here are pushed from the Lagos seaport. Even as we shift to Lagos, we pay the Customs and union.”

He pleaded with the Southeast Governors, National Assembly members of Igbo extraction and other stakeholders to look into the challenges being faced by Exporters from Igbo- speaking states.
He recounted how he lost One Hundred and Forty Steven Million (147,000,000) naira because of non availability cities paper which Dikeocha explained he paid at Ministry of Environment, Abuja, before the exporting of his containers to Vietnam.
He disclosed, the Chinese Companies that came to Imo and Enugu for wood processing and Export have all gone back to Lagos after losing their investment because they could not export from Onne port.

“The heights of sabotage meted on the Igbo Exporters is getting out of hand. Our leaders should look into this and come to our rescue”, he said.
