COVID-19: Kenyan Schools To Resume In January 2021

President Uhuru Kenyatta assured its citizens that all basic education classes would resume learning in-person in January 2021.

George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary of Education in Kenya announced to the media that schools will be reopened on January 4th, 2021.

With some countries entering the second phase of lockdown, Magoha believes that the safest environment for learner’s even as the COVID-19 infection rate continues to surge is the school.
•Magoha said the government has masks in stock but don’t mind getting extra from other stakeholders.

 “I wish to assure the country that the Government is determined to ensure a safe reopening and learning of our schools. In doing so, we are drawing important lessons from the partial reopening that has taken place since October,” he said.
“We are confident that we will remain on the right trajectory to finding the winning formula that will ensure our learning institutions are safe for our learners and teachers. “
