Cultists kill police inspector in Lagos

On Sunday, July 23, suspected cult members killed a police inspector who was assigned to the Zone Two Command headquarters in Onikan, Lagos. The incident occurred in the Ijanikin region of the state.
Around 9 o’clock at night, at the Alasia Bus Stop, the Inspector was attacked by the cultists, who were allegedly Black Axe confraternity members. On Friday, July 21, according to eyewitnesses, a group of hoodlums—numbering around seven—had a dispute with a close friend of the Inspector, who was well-known for his anti-cultism position in the area. According to reports, the attackers, who were estimated to number twenty, attacked the officer and repeatedly struck him with axes to the skull until his demise was determined.

A suspect named Sunday Igboro alias Ashile has been arrested in connection with the event, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police command’s spokesperson, who also confirmed the occurrence. Efforts are being made to catch the other suspects who are now on the run.
