The Delta State deputy governor, Monday Onyeme, is currently angry and dumbfounded over the looting of his office at the Government House, Asaba, and his lodge in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by hoodlums allegedly loyal to his predecessor, Kingsley Otuaro, SaharaReporters has learnt.

SaharaReporters reliably gathered that Onyeme who was sworn in as deputy governor alongside the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori on Monday, May, 29, 2023 in Asaba, was shocked when he discovered that several government properties ranging from gadgets, light bulbs, air conditioners, new and old cars among others have been looted from his office and other offices under his purview at the Government House, Asaba.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a senior staff in the deputy governor’s office confided in SaharaReporters, that a director in the office who is a kinsman of the immediate past deputy governor was allegedly involved in the looting and knows much about all that happened.

“The offices under the office of the deputy governor of Delta State were looted by boys loyal to the immediate past deputy governor, Kingsley Otuaro. One Keneke and one Amadi connived to loot the offices. New and old cars were looted. This Amadi looted household properties including beds and chairs from the lodge and the aides quarters at DBS Road, Asaba to a hotel he is building. Even electric bulbs, air-conditioners (ACs), smallest household items and furniture were removed from all offices and official quarters.

“Even the lodge Otuaro stayed for the eight years in Asaba which he vacated for the new deputy governor, Monday Onyeme was not spared. This Keneke knows all that transpired in the looting of the deputy governor’s office, his lodge and aides quarters. You will pity the new deputy governor, Onyeme because he couldn’t talk but just nursing the pains of the looting of his office.

“The so-called Keneke because of his closeness to Otuaro was good at hijacking all juicy schedules of all staff at the Otuaro’s office including fuelling/diesel in the office, rendering all other staff redundant because there was nothing to do except to wait for month end to receive salaries. He was so good at dropping the name of Otuaro,” the staff said.

All efforts to reach the immediate past deputy governor, Kingsley Otuaro and his successor, Monday Onyeme for comments on the alleged looting, were unsuccessful as calls and text messages sent to them were not responded to as at the time of filing this report
