A member of the British Parliament, Kate Osamor, has written to the UK Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, requesting immediate withdrawal of any development spending for the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.
Osamor, who is the Labour co-operative MP for Edmonton, made the request in view of recent #EndSARS protests and allegations of rights abuse against operatives of the defunct SARS.
The MP also asked the UK Foreign Secretary to halt development spending for “any other units in Nigeria responsible for corruption and abuses.”
She tweeted on Thursday: “Today I have written to the Foreign Secretary @DominicRaab asking him to urgently confirm that no development spending has found its way into SARs units in Nigeria, or any other units in Nigeria responsible for corruption and abuses.” [TheWhistler]
