I Have Fulfilled My Campaign Promise To Eradicate Polio, President Buhari Says.

The Director-General of the World Health Organisation Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Tuesday, August 25 announced that Africa has been declared free from the scourge of polio.
Reacting to the good news from WHO over declaration that polio has been eradicated from Africa, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, recalled that after assuming office in 2015, he promised Nigerians that his successor will not have to deal with the disease.

He said: “At a time when the global community is battling with the COVID-19 pandemic, this achievement strengthens my conviction that the requisite political will, investments, and strategies, as well as citizens’ commitment, will flatten the pandemic curve.
“I can affirm the commitment of all African leaders in this course of action. We must guard this achievement jealously and ensure that we take all necessary steps to prevent the resurgence of this deadly disease.”

The excited Nigerian Leader, said this declaration means he has fulfilled his campaign promise to wipe the disease out from the Country.
The President also showered accolades to African Leaders for their dedication and resilience to deal with Polio, and the victory they have achieved.
