The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has called on Kano House of Assembly members elected on the platform of APC to work with the state governor, Abba Yusuf.
He said irrespective of political parties; the Kano people deserve dividends of democracy, which they must work harmoniously with the governor to achieve.
Kemi Kilani News recalls that the APC lost the Kano governorship election to the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general election.
However, Ganduje, while receiving 14 Kano state House of Assembly members who paid him a courtesy visit at the party secretariat on Monday in Abuja, said they must work for the development of Kano state.
He said: “When I see most of you, I see myself because some of you, we were together 25 years ago. Some of you won elections, were Assembly Members, and lost elections and returned after seven years. You have been in a cycle with me. So, I can call some of you veterans of democracy. I was unsurprised when I learned you were here to see me on a congratulatory visit.”
Ganduje also commended the lawmakers for their contribution to the development of democracy in Kano state.
His words: “The state governor is of a different political party, but I want you to know that politics’ whole essence is the people’s development. I urge you, irrespective of the different political parties, to cooperate with the state governor to develop Kano state.
“That does not prevent you from maintaining your position as members of the State Assembly. It does not stop us from working together to have a government of APC in Kano state. What is most important is for the people of Kano state to get the dividends of democracy.
“I want you to work peacefully with the government in Kano state, and I assure you that we will provide you with all encouragement so that we get more and more members of the State Assembly until we get a governor of our party.”
Ganduje and Governor Yusuf had been at loggerheads after the 2023 elections.
