LIONEL MESSI TOPS THE LIST OF THE MOST MARKETABLE ATHLETE FOR THE SECOND TIME AS LAST YEAR’S WINNER CRISTIANO RONALDO TUMBLES 26 PLACES

According to recent data research, the world’s top 50 most marketable sportsmen are once again led by the legendary footballer Lionel Messi.

After winning the World Cup in Qatar with Argentina in December, the Inter Miami playmaker accomplished a significant milestone in 2022–2023.

The 36-year-old just signed a lucrative transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to MLS, and his debut in Florida has given him even more exposure to a wider audience.

At the end of October, Messi is expected to earn a record-extending eighth Ballon d’Or, further elevating his star.

The former Barcelona icon is at the top of the list just three years after placing first in 2020, according to Sports Pro Media, demonstrating how his success on the field has translated to his marketability.

Only four footballers, including Messi, complete the top 10.  NBA superstar LeBron James is ranked second, and seven-time NBA All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo is ranked fourth.

Following his transfer to Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr, last year’s champion Cristiano Ronaldo was nowhere to be found, falling from first to an unexpected 27th place year over year.
