The Member for Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Unyime Idem has hailed the contributions of Late Deaconess Mercy John Umanah to the service of God and humanity.
The deceased was the mother of Hon.Aniekan Umanah who represents Abak/EtimEkpo/Ika Federal Constituency.
Rep.Idem in his condolences to the bereaved family at the funeral service on Friday, April 30 2021 which took place at Mercy Hospital Grounds, Hospital Road, Abak local Government Area , described the late Mercy Umanah as a virtuous woman who faithfully served God as a Deaconess of Qua Iboe Church.
Hon. Idem , who is the Deputy Chairman, Communications Committee in the House of Representatives, also referred to the departed matriarch as a hardworking woman who touched many lives through her selfless services as a medical professional in Akwa Ibom state health care service, until her meritorious retirement into voluntary community healthcare support activities.
The Innovative and Inventive Legislator urged the bereaved family members not to be discouraged “by the sad reality of her exit, but be consoled by the fact that she lived a dedicated life of service to God and humanity “.
Hon.Idem who is also the Chairman House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on Pay-as- you- go billing implementation by digital satellite television service providers, on behalf of his family and the people of Ukanafun/OrukAnam Federal Constituency prayed God to strengthen the family and shield them with peace and love even as he wished the soul of their late mother, eternal repose.
Hon. Idem, the initiator of first ever 5000 empowerment programme for his constituents, was among the over 45 eminent personalities of the National Assembly members including Governor of Akwa-Ibom State , Mr Udom Emmanuel, His wife, Dr Martha Emmanuel,at the funeral conducted by Qua Iboe Church where the Minority Leader, Hon.Ndudi Elumelu delivered the Honourable Speaker’s message.
Late Deaconess Mercy John Umanah passed on at 84.
