PDP sweep Oyo LG poll

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State has swept the local government election conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission on Saturday April 27, 2024.

The PDP won the chairmanship position in all local government areas and majority councillorship positions in wards according to the results announced by the commission in Ibadan on Sunday 28th April.

The major opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress and other much room parties, shunned the poll in some local government areas of the state as it did not field candidates.

In Afrijo LGA, the Oyosiec’s returning officer, Dr. Sakako Julius, declared Olafemi Allcoma as the winner after he polled 18, 662 votes.

The returning officer for Orire LGA, Mr. Aileru Madasir, declared Oladji Michael as the winner after winning with 15,301.

Returning officers from various local government areas also declared the PDP candidate winners of the election.
