Tension As Protesters Storm Sokoto Streets Over The Arrest Of Deborah Samuel’s Killers, Demand Their Release [Video]

Residents of some parts of Sokoto State are in tensive mood as protesters invaded the streets demanding the release of suspects arrested over the killing of Deborah Samuel in the state.

On Thursday, NEWSIE EVENTS reported the killing of Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education , Sokoto by some angry muslim youths over alleged blasphemy.

The protesters, who stormed the streets in large numbers on Saturday, wielded placards with inscriptions such as, “Release our Muslim brothers”, and “Muslims Are Not Terrorists”, Allahu Akbar , among others.

It was gathered that armed policemen fired teargas canisters to disperse the angry crowd, during which two persons were reportedly injured.

A source who spoke to our correspondent said the protesters became violent and started hurling objects at the police.
