…as New Ark of Covenant Ministries honour federal lawmaker

The Deputy Chairman House Committee on Communications in the House of Representatives, Unyime Idem has charged the church to be intentional in their involvement in government by grooming and encouraging their members to be active participants in Nigerian politics.

Rep. Idem who stated this during the 2022 Jesus Meal and Thank You Service at the New Ark of Covenant Ministries, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, added that the active involvement of the church in Nigerian politics will birth lasting peace, unity and development in the country.

According to him, the church must go beyond praying for peace, unity and development in the country and seek to be part of the governance at all levels to be the real change agents.

He said, “Time has come for the church to rise up and be actively involved in politics and governance. We have prayed for too long, so we must change the tactics and get involved. The church must raise leaders capable of bringing about the desired change,” Rep. Idem stated.

The Federal Lawmaker who also served as the Governor of the Feast thanked the founder of the church, Bishop John Ekong for yielding himself to be used by God and for gathering God’s people yearly to feast on the ‘Lords table.’
