Traditional Rulers Council Honours Deputy Chairman House Committee on Communication in the National Assembly with Chieftaincy Title

The deputy Chairman House Committee on Communication in the federal house of representative Hon Unyime Idem has been conferred the Chieftaincy title of “Idorenyin” Oruk Anam over the weekend.

The traditional Rulers Council under Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State bestowed the royal apparent on the federal lawmaker in compliment of his effective representation in the Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.

The Laurel ceremony which was part of the activities that marks the formal coronation event of Obong Akpan Ibanga, the clan head of Abak Midim, Oruk Anam Local Government Area held at Ikot Esenam.

In an address, the Paramount Ruler of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Akuku Johnson Obosi said the Chieftaincy title done on member of the federal parliament Hon Idem was in recognition of his immense contributions towards the progress of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, the State and the Nation at large.

According to his Royal Majesty Akuku Obosi the “Chieftaincy honours are not for sale and not the function for all and sundry to confer titles on people, as village heads, clan heads and the Paramount Rulers have the right to confer honours within their jurisdictions”

The monarch condemned what he called “the encroachment of traditional functions by greedy and ignorant individuals or groups”. He however, described the conferment of Chieftaincy honour of Hon Idem at the coronation as well deserved and acknowledgement for his unprecedented performance and achievements within his short time Representing the federal constituency in the house of representative.

Responding at the event, the Lawmaker, Hon Unyime Idem expressed gratitude on the monarch’s recognition and acknowledging his modest efforts in the transformation of the Federal Constituency and dimming him worthy and qualified to honoured with the Chieftaincy award.

The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Communications, who has initiated Skills Acquisition and Empowerment programme for 5000 Constituents members, ICT e- Learning Centres across Secondary schools also announced the construction of three new roads project in the federal constituency before the end of 2021.

The Lawmaker said his new title as “Idorenyin” Oruk Anam conferred on him will continue to stimulate and sparkled him to contribute significantly to the wellbeing of his constituents even as he pledged to remain the hope of the people.

Idem reiterated that his representation will continue to accord priority, respect and regards to the traditional institution in view of the pivotal role of royal fathers in maintenance of peace, unity and stability of communities, noting that he will continue to carry traditional fathers along in his representation because of their contributions to the peace and harmony in the Federal constituency.

The Legislator prayed God to guide, protect and give the coronated clan head Obong Ibanga wisdom and Understanding in piloting the affairs of the clan, adding that his administration will continue to supports the monarch to succeed in the throne.
