Zulum’s Convoy Attack Update: 30 Confirmed Dead While Unverified Number Of People Injured

Newsie Events:-
The death toll in the attack of the convoy of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists on Friday along the Baga Highway in the Northern part of the state keep rising.
According to SaharaReporters, there were not less than 30 people mostly security agents who died in the attack.
The victims include 12 policemen, five soldiers, four members of a government-backed militia, and nine civilians.
Two sources told AFP on Saturday that the number of fatalities from the attack on Friday had doubled as more bodies were found.
The convoy was heading to Baga town ahead of government’s planned return of internally displaced persons from Maiduguri when the incident happened.
The attack comes barely two months after Governor Zulum was attacked around the same axis by the insurgents on his way from Baga.
The area is believed to be dangerous and has recorded many abductions by the terrorist group in recent times.
A splinter group of the Boko Haram sect, the Islamic State of West Africa Province, is believed to have a stronghold in the area.
Though SaharaReporters gathered that the governor was not part of the convoy as he traveled by helicopter but the new update shows that an unverified number of people were injured, while the victims include 12 policemen, five soldiers, four members of a government-backed militia, and nine civilians.
The attack, it was learnt, happened at about 12 pm some kilometers away from the Multinational Joint Task Force headquarters in Baga.
