Victor Osimhen beats Salah, Mahrez to win Best African International at Ghana Football Awards

Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles and Napoli, has won the Best African International honor at the 5th Ghana Football Awards.

At the awards ceremony conducted on Sunday at the Accra International Conference Center, Osimhen was declared the winner.

The 24-year-old defeated Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, who is from Egypt, and Riyad Mahrez of Manchester City.

He received the Serie A Best Striker award for the recently finished season.

The African Player of the Year title is also expected to go to Osimhen.

Osimhen contributed to Napoli’s 2022–23 Serie A championship, their first since the 1989–1990 campaign. He became the first African to accomplish the mark by tallying 26 goals in the Italian top division.
