The Rivers State Governor, Siminialaye Fubara, has vowed never to govern the state under submission to any political factor, asserting that he will continue to do the right thing.
The Governor made his statement amid the political turbulence between him and his political godfather the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to a report from Daily Post, The governor with a group of some elders visited the former governor Sir Celestine Omehia, to offer their condolences on the recent passing of his mother, Mrs Ezinne Cecilia Omehia.
In his statement, “I will not, I repeat, I will not govern our dear state on my knees. If that was the purpose, I will not do that. I will stand to govern our dear state and stand continually on the side of right.”
Recall that the former governor of Rivers State and the FCT minister has been in longer terms with his successor, Sim Fubara over the leadership of the state.
Their crisis started when some legislators who are loyal to the former governor imploted an impeachment notice to the governor. President Bola Tinubu intervened into their crisis and initiated the proclamation consisting the 8-point peace pact. The two political leaders and some other leaders in the state signed to maintain peace. Unfortunately, the peace initiation failed as the duo are still in longerhead.
