President Bola Tinubu has received copies of the proposed 2027 budget of the United Nations (UN), presented by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the organisation, Jimoh Ibrahim.
Ibrahim presented the seven-volume budget document to the President at the State House in Abuja on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
During the meeting, Tinubu expressed his appreciation for Ibrahim’s role and achievement, telling the ambassador, “I am proud of you.”
Ibrahim, who chairs the UN Committee on Budget and Administrative Matters, explained that the proposed budget remains subject to scrutiny and approval by UN member states.
He noted that presenting the document to the Nigerian President was significant, given Nigeria’s representation and participation in the organisation’s budgetary and administrative processes.
The presentation comes as the United Nations prepares to review its proposed financial plan for 2027, with member states expected to examine the budget before a final decision is reached.
The proposed budget will undergo the relevant review and approval procedures in line with the UN’s established processes.
