Nigerians Should Be Thankful That Bombs Don’t Go Off Daily Again – Adesina

By Newsie:-

The Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, while speaking on Channels TV’s proramme, “Sunday Politics” on Sunday, said that there’s every need for Nigerians to be thankful as bombs are no longer going off the way it uses to before now.

Adesina made the statement while responding to complaints by Nigerians over the increasing level of insecurity in the country.

He claimed that before Buhari became the President, six bombs would go off in a single day, noting that killings and bombings have reduced since Buhari became President.

Also, the President’s media aide claimed that the country now goes weeks and months without any incident.

There have been five separate incidents of killings that took place in the last three days. When the Presidential Aide was asked if security had improved, he said, …..
“Yes, there are times, a week, two weeks even a month that you don’t have all these things happening. There was a time in the immediate past when they happened daily several times. You talked of one bombing within three or four days. There was a time in this country when bombs went off like firecrackers every day.

“There could be five, six bombings in one day. Now, you can have two, three months with no single case of bombing. Let’s be thankful for small mercies. Any mercies we receive, let’s be thankful for it, and let’s not dwell on negatives alone.

“Life is taking the rough and smooth together. So, sometimes we see when things go on for days, for weeks with no negative developments, let us emphasize those ones… We have challenges but these are not the constants in the country.”

Adesina was reminded of the promises Buhari made during his campaign, like wiping out Boko Haram, and asked if he would say Buhari did as promised.

He then argued that it must be specified that the President made some promises as an opposition figure and not a government official, claiming that the terrorists had been technically defeated but were still active in certain areas on a lesser scale.

Adesina pointed out that last week, the President acknowledged the efforts of the security agencies but urged them to do better which means there is something he wants to see.

He said that President Buhari’s credibility is intact while faulting the claim by a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, that the abduction and rescue of over 300 Kankara schoolboys seemed dubious.
