End SARS: Sanwo-Olu did the right by Inviting Soldiers – Army General tells Panel

Newsie Events:-

The Lagos Judicial Panel has been told by Officer of the Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Ahmed Taiwo that, the military was invited by the Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu Babajide during the #EndSARS protest to avoid the state of chaos and anarchy the state was turning into.

Taiwo, who is the Commander, 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, said on Saturday, that the Lagos State Governor took the best decision anyone could take in the face of police stations being burnt, looting of arms and ammunitions, the killing of policemen, blockage of roads, and extortion of money from innocent citizens by hoodlums.

The did Governor did nothing wrong with that, because, the situation has gotten out of hand, he said while testifying before the Lagos Judicial Panel on SARS.

Aside hearing from the victims of SARS brutality, the Judicial Panel of inquiry is also probing the alleged shooting of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate on the night of October 20, 2020.

Taiwo, after showing the panel the footage of a scene where a mob killed someone, set the body ablaze, and were discussing how to share the body parts, told the panel that the anarchy was a resemblance of what happened during the Liberian war.

He said, “These scenes are reminiscent of the Liberian Civil War when the fighters believed that once they consume human body parts, they would be fortified, they would be strong.
“It was these incidents that made the Governor of Lagos State ask for military intervention and in my opinion, that was the correct thing to do since the police had been overrun and policemen were fighting for their dear lives.”
