The deputy Chairman House Committee on Communications in the House of Representatives Hon Unyime Idem has been crown with another Chieftaincy Title by his Local Government Area.
The Ukanafun local Government Council on June 1, 2021, honored one of it prominent son currently serving them in an effective representation at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly Hon Unyime Idem for distinguishing himself in various leadership positions with excellence awards.
The parliament member Rep. Unyime Idem was conferred with an excellence award of “IDORENYIN UKANAFUN” meaning ( the hope of Ukanafun) in view of his effective representation of the Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and the development of his constituents.
The honour which was bestowed on him came as part of the activities marking the Ist Ukanafun Economic Development Summit 2021 to mark the 45th years Anniversary of the Local Government Creation.
The ceremony which took place at the Ukanafun Local Government Council Hall, Ikot Akpa Nkuk was anchored on the theme: Repositioning Ukanafun for Sustainable Development.
The Chairman of the Summit Planning and Execution, Barrister Aniekan Ukpanah said it has become necessary for sons and daughters of the area who have distinguished themselves in leadership positions to be honored and celebrated one of such is the House of Representatives member.
Responding, the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency Lawmaker, Rep. Unyime Idem appreciated his people for acknowledging his modest efforts in the transformation of the Federal Constituency.
The Lawmaker said the award of “Idorenyin Ukanafun” on him will stimulate him to contribute more significantly to the wellbeing of his constituents, Akwa Ibom and Nigeria even as he pledged to remain the hope of the people.
The Initiator of the first-ever Skills acquisition and empowerment programme for 5000 constituents assured that he will continue to attract federal government projects to the area.
He appreciated the organisers of the summit and the people of Ukanafun on the 45th Anniversary celebration and made his financial support to the ceremony.
Rep. Idem had earlier accompanied the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, represented by his Deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo to the groundbreaking of Late Obong Udo Ekpenyong Unity Hall as well as the Unveiling of the Statue of late Barrister Asuquo Ukpanah.
