Embrace your differences, trust each other, Archbishop Carmilus Umoh advises couples

The Archbishop of Catholic Church, Ikot Ekpene diocese of Akwa Ibom State, Bishop Carmilus Umoh has advised newlywed couple to make their union a peaceful place

Bishop Umoh who was ably represented by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Ekaidem in the Holy matrimony between Chief Paul Thompson Ebong and Miss Mbetobong Peter at St. Patrick Quasi parish in Midim Abak LGA.

The Bishop through his representative urge the couple to effect trust, mutual respect and understanding in their marriage as the only way to build a good home.

Chief Paul Thompson Ebong is the incumbent village head of Ikot Imoh in Midim Clan, Abak LGA, popularly known as “Young Village head”

The monarch is also younger brother to Nobel Lady Dorothy Ekpoudom wife of the retired deputy inspector General of police and currently, Senate topnotch for Ikot Ekpene senatorial District DIG Udom Ekpoudom Rtd.

The Clergyman advised the couples to embrace their differences and be sincere to each other to ensure successful marriage. He also urged the couple to learn to accept each other.

This according to him is imperative as trying to change each other is likely to lead to problems in the marriage.

“Chief Paul must learn to accept Mbetobong and Mbetobong must learn to accept Chief Paul”

He said Overtime, changes will take place, but you have to remain focus working together as a team.

“What that means is that they should celebrate their uniqueness, celebrate their differences and it is by so doing that their marriage can be successful.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Ekaidem said that the wedding was an indication that good things could  happen to anybody if they trusted God and believed  in themselves.

He said the bride getting married to traditional ruler must understand the how to approach her husband especially when in a meeting with his council of chiefs and any other activities in the palace. He prayed for a successful marriage to the couple.

He called on the Catholic faithfuls and other participants to continue praying for the family that God should continue to touch them and give them true and sincere love that will sustain them forever.

The groom’s elder sister expressed joy for witnessing the marriage of her younger brother and advised the couple to trust in God by putting him first in their marriage. She congratulates them for their decision to come together and build a godly marriage.

Expressing her joy, the bride Mbetobong said her husband was the most important person in her life.

“He is a very loving person, since we met up till today that we got married, he has been supportive.

“I am so glad that today, we are able to come together to seal our love through marriage

The groom, Chief Paul described his bride as  a wonderful woman who inspires people.

“So, being with her has actually improved my life, boosted my moral, helped me think positively and has opened my eyes to the bigger world.

“That is the kind of positive impact she has on people who come around her, everything around my wife is special, from the way she talks, cook, and relates with other people.”

Interestingly, the ceremony features cutting of the both the wedding cake and local cake, exchanged of marital vows and lots of merriment.
