The Speaker of Imo State house of Assembly, Chiji Collins has been impeached.
His impeachment was reportedly over allegations of financial misconduct, highhandedness, and gross impropriety among others.
Collins removal came during a plenary at the legislative chamber of the Assembly complex in Owerri, the state capital.
When the motion was moved for the former speaker’s impeachment, it was supported by 19 out of the 27 members of the House.
As a result of this development, Paul Emeziem from Onuimo Local Government has emerged as the new Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.
