Former aide to ex President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Reno Omokri has questioned the rationale behind the action of the Kano Hisbah that destroyed a lorry load of beer belonging to a Southerner.
On Tuesday, the Kano state Hisbah command confiscated and destroyed 8,400 Bortles of beer which it alleged were smuggled into the State from Zaria, Kaduna state. The goods, which allegedly belong to a businessman from the South-East, were destroyed following a ban on alcohol in the state.
Reno, while reacting via a post in his official Facebook page said if Northerners could carry out such act and heaven did not fall, the southerners have the right to also destroy cows that are found going against the ban on open grazing.
His post reads;
“Yesterday, Kano Hisbah destroyed a lorry load of beer belonging to a Southerner, and Nigeria did not collapse (even though Kano happily receives VAT from beer sold in the South). In the same vein, Nigeria will not collapse if Southern states destroy any cattle caught grazing openly.
“We must refuse to live in a country where cows have more rights than human beings!”
