Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, attracted attention at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday after sharing a kiss with his wife shortly before entering the courtroom for his ongoing wiretapping trial.
The former governor was seen embracing and kissing his wife at the court premises, a moment that caught the attention of lawyers and supporters present. A video capturing the affectionate exchange has since gained traction on social media.
The court appearance comes as El-Rufai faces trial over allegations that he intercepted the telephone conversations of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
During Monday’s proceedings, the court dismissed El-Rufai’s no-case submission and directed him to enter his defence in the matter.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) had presented sufficient evidence to warrant the former governor responding to the allegations against him.
El-Rufai is the sole defendant in the charge.
Following the ruling, the court adjourned the case until November 25, 2026, for the former governor to open his defence.
