Several members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Benue State have sustained injuries after two buses conveying them to the North-Central mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State were involved in a road accident on Saturday.The incident occurred this morning near the Government House Junction in Lafia, a few kilometres from the rally venue.
The buses were conveying supporters loyal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, from Benue to the rally organized in support of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Confirming the incident, the Publicity Secretary of the Austin Agada-led APC faction in Benue, Dan-Morgan Ihomun, said no life was lost.“Yes, two vehicles conveying supporters of our party APC on their way to the venue of the North Central mega rally today in Lafia were involved in an accident. Some were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Nobody died and we thank God for that,” Ihomun said.
The injured were rushed to hospitals in Lafia for medical attention.The mega rally, hosted by Governor Abdullahi Sule and expected to be headlined by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is part of mobilization for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
