Nigerian Army Admits Going To Lekki Tollgate With Live Bullets

In the Lagos judicial panel, the Nigerian army has finally admitted bringing live bullets to the Lekki tollgate where a controversial shooting that took place on October 20, 2020.

The commander of the 81 division of the Nigerian Army, Ibrahim Taiwo disclosed this while being cross-examined by Olumide Fusika, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) before the Lagos judicial panel on Saturday, November 21.

In his explanation, Taiwo said that the live bullets were for the protection of the army team that was deployed to restore order in the area.

He ,however maintained that the soldiers who opened fire used blank bullets, revealing that their colleagues with live rounds were on ground to protect other soldiers from hoodlums who might want to foment trouble.
