The Chief of Army of a country died in a plane crash and most citizens took to social media to rejoice and make fun of the death.
Meanwhile this is in the heat of the fight against insecurity in the country.
This is a very ugly situation. However, this shows you the total disconnection between the people and the government.
Few weeks ago, a commander of a supposedly proscribed organisation was killed and many citizens cried out in pain. Same as yesterday with the news of the death of a commander of another organisation.
Now the question here is:
WHERE IS THE LOYALTY OF THE CITIZENS?
TO THE GOVERNMENT OR TO THESE GROUPS?
In some countries, during a heavy insecurity situation like what Nigeria is going through, the celebration would be on death of these commanders and mourning for the Army Chief.
The reverse is the case in Nigeria and it clearly shows you that the government has failed the citizens and the citizens have moved their loyalty to different groups.
Anybody that tells you that all is well in Nigeria is living in self-denial.
