Football: FIFA Bans CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad For Five Years

By Simdi Gloria:-

The Association Press of Zurich reports that the Confederation of African Football President, Ahmad Ahmad who is also the vice-president of FIFA has been given a five-year ban from the game.

This comes as the ethics committee of the world’s football governing body found that he “had breached his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, mismanaged funds and abused his positions as the CAF President.

Late last month, Ahmad disclosed his intention to run for a second term in office but he was down with coronavirus, which forced him to hand over to CAF’s first vice-president Constant Omari as he continues his recovery.

Ahmad, a former government official in Madagascar, was also fined 200,000 Swiss francs ($220,000).

He was earlier accused of financial wrongdoing and misconduct at the Confederation of African Football headquarters in Cairo, in his first term.
