Senate President Lawan Urges Nigerians To Disregard Report Alleging He Took Bribe To Facilitate Confirmation Of Yakubu As INEC Chairman.

The Senate President Ahmed Lawan has clarified the allegation levelled against him that he collected the sum of 2 million Naira to hasten the re-appointment of the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) Yakubu Mahmood.

Lawan in a statement issued on Thursday, November 19, by his media aide, Ola Awoniyi, to a report by an online medium, which alleged that a group led by the Senate president collected N2 billion from Yakubu to facilitate the confirmation of his reappointment by President Muhammadu Buhari for another five-year tenure is uncalled for not based on facts.

Lawan Urges Nigerians to disregard the news as it is meant to tarnish his image as he noted that the publication failed to provide the names of members of the fictitious group and where the group operated from.
